Congratulations to Sicilia Bella on this week’s La Jolla Social Hot Spot Award
One of the most loved family-owned eateries in town, Sicilia Bella is your one-stop-shop for practically everything Italian. Sicilia Bella Chef Sidne and her husband Benedetto run a great cafe with a smorgasbord of delectable options, as well as a fascinating mini-market that covers the walls of the restaurant. Filled with an assortment of imported Italian goods, from spices and sauces to baubles and keepsakes, this mini-market contributes greatly to the homey atmosphere.
The cafe has an impressive online following as well, with a perfect 5 stars on Yelp across hundreds of reviews. I’d chalk it up to the great food quality that the place puts out consistently—I don’t recall ever being dissatisfied with a meal there. The restaurant lives up to its name in harkening back to the food of Sicily with such classics as the traditional tricolore pasta and sfogliatelle. However, for the less adventurous of us, Sicilia Bella’s menu contains many other options that are equally delicious, such as the chicken parm hero, which is one of my personal favorites.
Benedetto makes a mighty tasty ice expresso and many other caffeine delights. Like pasta, salads, panini? They’ve got you covered.
All in all, Sicilia Bella does not sacrifice good food for its beautiful atmosphere. This restaurant is a veritable jewel of Italian cuisine hidden within the jewel of San Diego.
